These bake free apple and cinnamon balls are quick and easy to make and are sure to be a hit with the whole family. Free from dairy and gluten and packed with protein, fibre and natural sugars for energy, they are the perfect 3 o’clock pick me up, or after school snack.
Enjoy!
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup of Oats (we love @gfoats) – Aussie, gluten free oats
- 2 tablespoons of Ground Flax Seed
- 1/3 teaspoon of Cinnamon
- 1/3 cup of Almond Butter (we love @hempfoodsaustralia)
- 1 1/2 tablespoons of Raw Honey
- 1 Apple (peeled, cored and finely diced)
Place oats, ground flaxseed and cinnamon together in a bowl. Mix well. Add almond butter, honey and diced apples. Mix well again. (You can pulse the oats briefly first if you have a processor for a slightly different texture).
Method
- Lightly wet your hands (to prevent sticking) and roll the mixture into balls approximately the size of golf balls.
- Once rolled into balls, place the balls onto a plate and in the fridge for around 30 minutes to set.
- If they don’t all get eaten straight away, they can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for the week, or the freezer for up to a month.
Alternatives
For a nut-free alternative, the almond butter can be substituted for sunflower seed butter,
For a vegan option, maple syrup can be used instead of honey.
Enjoy!
